About

Michelle Warren, Physiotherapist

My inspiration and interest in physiotherapy began in my teens; since I had been so involved in sports, I had had my fair share of injuries, and really enjoyed my experiences with physiotherapists and loved how they could help people to get back to enjoying their sport and liefstyles after injury.

Initially I worked in orthopedics but when my youngest child was a baby, I fortuitously met a current colleague who drew me into pediatrics because she recognized my skill set. My “job” makes me happy because I get to move and play all day and be curious about how to help my clients. I show kids how to exercise and take care of their bodies, and teach their parents about their children’s issues while empowering them to help their kids.

Making exercise fun is one of my favourite things to do and is one of my superpowers. What are yours?

Athlete

Throughout my life I have participated in many competitive sports at various levels. These include local, provincial and national level competitions. At the local level, I participated in gymnastics, soccer, and many other sports. At the provincial level, cross country running, nordic skiing, track and field and mountain biking were how I spent my time.

While attending university at Western I enjoyed competing on the novice rowing, varsity track and field (pole vaulting), and the Ultimate Frisbee team. As a University of Ottawa Geegee, I played on the Canadian University Ultimate Champion team 2 years in a row.

Since then, I have competed in Mixed and Women’s Masters Ultimate Frisbee. The highlight of my sporting career was 2019, when I played on Ottawa’s club team, Solstice, which won the USA Ultimate National Championships in Denver, CO in the Women’s Grand Masters division; and also played on lowercase, which won the Canadian Ultimate Championships in Edmonton, AB in the Women’s Masters division.
